Beyond the Boundaries
04:36
|

Sunlight shimmered through the canopy of our golden field
Where we whiled away the hours lost in dreams
Of a world that waited beyond the boundaries
Of what we knew back then, which wasn't much
We believed we were invincible
Naked in the grass of whispered secrets
Burning with desire, daring to deceive the world
But only deceiving ourselves.
Why does it end?
Why does love end?
Why do we try to win against all bets?
Sitting on the driveway, cross-legged in the sun
Beaming on our backs, numbing bitter thoughts
As my mind fought your corrosion of betrayal
To no avail, we were the chosen ones
We would last, unlike the rest
We knew the best way to defy the demise
Of the kingdom in our hearts
I failed to see the start
Of the end
Our love's end
But I still tried to win against all bets.
Don't ever run away, don't ever betray your heart when it leaves you breathless
When you're afraid to lose the one who says they will adore you to the end
Then be brave and stay - love them anyway.
I found a note that you wrote years ago
It made me smile and then I thought of how I've grown
And how much I owe you today for who I am
The things I've done, who I've become
But that's what life is, we make the choice to love
And then we lose all the hope
That we had found our world beyond the boundaries
And then we find again
Hope that died
And maybe we realise
Love ends so we can learn
To be more than we used to be before we found them in our lives
Don't waste your breath lost in regret, you're alive that means you're where you need to be
There's a new world to find if you open your eyes.
Sunlight shimmers through the canopy of my golden field
Where I while away the hours lost in dreams
Of a world that waits beyond the boundaries
Of all I know.

Fall
05:11
|
|||
Down on the esplanade, she looks out with shadowed eyes
The lights are dim and cold, her story yet untold
But in her youth she bares the mark of dark and numbing pain
And blankly she stares out when it begins to rain.
The night has fallen quick, and she questions who she is
Will she ever feel again the joy she lived back then?
Oppressed each day by fear, she now begins to ask
Can she find the strength to fight the tide that's flowing past?
Fall...
Forever small...
Her hair dripping, tangled up, she looks towards the moon
It's pale behind the clouds, draped in shadowy shroud
And behind her she can hear happiness in the quaint cafés
They don't notice her, or care; she fades into the grey.
Fall...
Forever small...
It's hard to hear her call...
For dignity and peace, for love and care and hope
And a reason to smile, will we just let her fall?
Take her hand, take her tears
Take away the fear behind her eyes
Will no one fight to keep her here?
Is she so alone while we are so near?
It's in this moment it all sinks in, what she's known for her whole life
This isn't where she wants to be, staring lonely out to sea
She'd rather face the waves than face what's in her mind
The shadow takes her by the hand, as the world behind stays blind.
And it's in this moment now we all begin to see
In one hand ignorance, the other our arrogance
We put off too late to show that we'd always cared
We see tomorrow, now, that she won't be there.
Fall...
Forever small...
We never heard her call...
For dignity and peace, for love and care and hope
We could have given her a smile, and we just let her fall.
Fall away from hope
Fall away from pain.
